CHEERFIT AMBASSADOR FEATURE: ABBY CASAS
The CHEERFIT ambassador community is filled with leaders and motivators who all share a passion for fitness, love for cheering and drive to help inspire others.
Our ambassadors share with us their personal stories and obstacles they overcome along the way. We have an amazing community of athletes who fuel their passion and determination with the CHEERFIT lifestyle.
CAN YOU SHARE WITH US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY AND HOW YOU GOT TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?
Abby has been diagnosed with an non curable autoimmune disease called Morphea. It affects her skin by causing dark spots over her body. If this disease goes untreated it can cause skin thickening that can cause decrease joint mobility, it can cause thickening of the esophagus, and can affect the eyes.
The goal is to get the disease into remission, which can take a few years. Abby is going to have to have weekly injections of Methotrexate and have to have weekly IV steroid infusions, which involves having a home nurse at our house every week. Her immune system will be compromised because of the Methotrexate, so more than likely she will take longer to get over illnesses and they could hit her harder, even a simple cold can cause her to have to go the hospital.
She is having a bit of a rough time adjusting to her “new normal”, but she is one tough kid and will get there😊
She wants to focus more now than ever on helping others to be confident in themselves and never be ashamed of their imperfections and be proud of who they are!
Please feel free to DM abby on @abbystretchingvideos with any questions or if you just want to talk to her about this! We also encourage you to use the hashtag #asvstrong when you post anything you’re proud of! We love all of our supporters and we are going to need you every step of the way! Please keep her in your thoughts as we all try to adjust.
