TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF 🙂

I am 8 years old and I am on my 4th year cheering. Cheering is my passion! This season I am on our Youth 2 and Junior 2 teams. I also perform a solo so I can showcase my level 4 tumbling. I am currently working on my full and can’t wait to get it!

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND HOW YOU STARTED YOUR CHEERLEADING JOURNEY!

My story is that I started cheering and I didn’t even know how to do a cartwheel. Now, I just learned how to do an arabian through to full!


I have to tell you there were times when I would get so mad at myself because I could not do it. I would quit.


Everybody always had to remind me that I was only 10 years old!

So, that is my story. . . what’s yours? 🙂

We have an amazing community of athletes from all over the world – everyone is joined together in the online CHEERFIT community to share their passion for cheer and fitness. We learn so much about our ambassadors when we read their stories every week, and we discovered that many of our CHEERFIT families are connected to the military! Since November is “Military Family Appreciation Month”, we thought we’d give a special shout-out to our ambassadors who have family members in the armed forces. This week’s ambassador reminds us to believe in ourselves and to never say we “can’t’ do something! We are honored to share with you our ‘Ambassador of the Week Feature’ with Kherington Branstetter!

 

SHARE WITH US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF AND HOW YOU STAY MOTIVATED!

I am not allowed to say the word can’t . . .it’s like a curse word in our family.

My parents tell me to always believe in myself and I can do anything! I was the main role in a National Belk commercial this past year. It was amazing! We filmed all weekend in a castle! .


My dad is special forces and is gone a lot, but I love when he is around and able to see me cheer.


One day I want to be a UK cheerleader and then coach and own my own gym! I was top10 at nationals and jr olympics for tumbling ages 8 and under. I also do tumble team sub advanced/advanced and I am on jr 3 Weather Girls for all star cheer.

HOW HAS BEING AN AMBASSADOR HELPED YOU?

Since becoming an ambassador, I feel stronger and faster. I got my full more consistent, my whips and back handsprings are faster now too! I feel like a stronger tumbler already!

I have been noticed by other brands and companies and have been told that I am really inspiring. I have also got to meet some new people on Instagram!

I love getting to encourage and inspire others! I tell all my friends about the workouts and encourage them to sign up and try them too. It’s fun getting new workouts to try!

Do it! It has made me stronger and faster! It also gives you a chance to get in touch with new friends on social media that love the same things you do!!!!

We have an amazing community of athletes who fuel their passion and determination with the CHEERFIT lifestyle – they are a constant reminder that despite the setbacks or difficulties we all often face, we can do anything we want if we just keep focusing on the prize! This week, we learned how one amazing ambassador doesn’t let anything that may seem like a limitation stand in her way. We are honored to share with you our ‘Ambassador of the Week Feature’ with Serenity McWhorter!

 

CAN YOU SHARE WITH US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY AND HOW YOU GOT TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?

When I was 4 years old, I was diagnosed with Autism, ADD, ADHD and PDD. It was hard for me to speak or interact with others without feeling overwhelmed. I was very unhappy. My doctor thought it would be a good idea to try cheerleading. Cheer really helped me get control of my hyperactivity. On top of the physical release, cheer also helped me interact with others on a team. Cheering gave me an outlet I never knew! Cheerleading and fitness became an obsession, and it helps me in my daily life. For years I thrived on the Diamondz special athletes team and crossed over to mainstream teams all the way up to level 4/5. I competed with them for 5 years before the gym shut down. I was devastated! I lost my love for cheerleading and fitness. It got so bad I developed a mental block toward any kind of physical activity.

The next year, things got even worse. I was a victim of mental and physical bullying at my school, and broke the growth plate in my elbow. After that, I was scared to return to school. Today I am home schooled. On top of all that, our house, my only safe haven, was broken into! They stole all of my personal things! I was diagnosed with anxiety, depression and PTSD as a result of all the events in such a short time.


I had to fight to get my life back!


I started going back to the last place I felt happy. I went back to cheerleading, at a new gym, Carolina Crossfire Cheer. With the guidance of Coach Angela Koenig, I quickly realized that cheer and fitness programs help me cope with daily struggles. I can honestly say I am back to the happier and stronger me. I finally feel I have a safe place to be me. I have learned to set goals for myself. I love working out and feeling that I accomplish something. I have found excitement in introducing others to the amazing personal benefits in being CHEERFIT.

My goal is to help raise Autism Awareness, inclusion and acceptance, as well as for special needs solo athletes to be included in athletic competitions.  I am only 10 years old, but some days I feel like I have lived so much more. Then I realize how far I have come. I have gained so much. I have even won several solo, team, and pageant competitions, including 2016 World’s Perfect Athlete Cheerleader Super Hero Grand Champion. In 2016, I have become involved with several charities, and have done a lot of volunteer work. By the end of the year I will be featured in a modeling magazine. I want others to see how far they can go too. I hope others see disabilities in players are not limiting factors.

We are all athletes. We all struggle. Together, anything is possible.

I am already reaping the rewards of becoming a CHEERFIT ambassador. I have learned that my family, new and old friends, teammates, coaches, and therapists will support me and keep me focused, as I travel down my road to CHEERFIT. I appreciate all of their help, and love how devoted they are to help me reach new heights as an athlete, as an advocate, and as an ambassador for CHEERFIT.

HOW HAS BEING AN AMBASSADOR HELPED YOU?

Being a CHEERFIT Ambassador has helped give me a platform to reach out to others. I want to help people see that regardless of your limitations, you can achieve great heights. Being physically fit and putting your best effort into things is not only for the elite. Everyone can do this!

WHAT NEW OPPORTUNITIES HAS BEING A CHEERFIT AMBASSADOR OPENED UP FOR YOU? 

Being a CHEERFIT Ambassador has opened doors I never dreamed possible. I can use my CHEERFIT fitness plan and encourage others to do the same. It allows me to reach my personal best. CHEERFIT allows me to help others see I am not limited, but can do anything I set my mind to do. As an ambassador for CHEERFIT I can tell them all “If I can do this, so can you!”

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING A CHEERFIT AMBASSADOR?

My favorite part of being a CHEERFIT Ambassador is being able to help others understand the importance of being physically active, and motivate them to get CHEERFIT.  Being a CHEERFIT ambassador has really helped me to get back in condition for the upcoming cheer competition season. When my friends and teammates see my improvement, I can tell them all “If I can do it, YOU can do it! Get CHEERFIT!”

FUN FACT: WHAT 3 THINGS ARE ALWAYS IN YOUR CHEER BAG?

Actually, there’s four things for me! 🙂 I always have a water bottle. Hydration is key to staying healthy. As an advocate for Autism Awareness, I usually have my Autism Awareness, CheerLyfe and “Hope” Bows attached to my bag to display my devotion towards positive strides in cheer, hope, and responsibility. My tablet is a must so I can follow the CHEERFIT fitness plan and use it at the gym! Soon I hope to have my CHEERFIT workout outfit to show others that fitness is not just something to dream, but something to achieve!

FAVORITE SONG TO JAM OUT TO DURING A SWEAT SESH:

My all-time favorite song to sweat to is Confidence by Demi Lovato. Let’s face it, a little bit of confidence goes a long way!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE EXERCISE?

I could never skip stretching, and it is by far my favorite exercise of all. I want so to be a better flyer, and stretching allows me to lengthen those muscles so I can safely and easily reach all those complex body positions in the air. I also like doing anything to strengthen my legs for more power when I tumble. My dream is to reach the highest level skills as possible, and be like Angel Rice, and I know stretching and power exercises are essential to reach that goal.

The ambassador community connects them with other athletes from all over the world – they have formed amazing friendships and motivate each other to pursue their goals and build confidence! This week are proud to share with you the Ambassador of the Week Feature with Kalie Pagel, as she tells us about herself and how she stands up for the people she cares about!

CAN YOU SHARE WITH US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY AND HOW YOU GOT TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?

I was born 10 weeks too early and spent 28 days in the hospital at birth. Growing up a triplet had been amazing, I would not trade my brothers for anything, they are my best friends.


I will stand up for them no matter what.


This past year was hard on our family as one of them went through a difficult time, due to medicine changes, the loss of a friend to death, and a friend being bullied  – he became suicidal. Thank goodness my mom knew what to do, and thank goodness he reached out to her. He is doing great today and now I stand up for all kids, regardless of who they are to help ensure no one else goes through what we did.

Being an ambassador has helped me to stay focused on fitness that will help with the cheer sport, and has helped me to overcome my anxiety disorder.

The CHEERFIT ambassador community is filled with leaders and motivators who all share a passion for fitness, love for cheering and drive to help inspire others.

Many of our ambassadors now live the CHEERFIT lifestyle after years of cheering, some recovering from injuries that occurred during their career. That is, after all, the reason CHEERFIT was founded . . .to be a constant reminder that cheerleaders need a fitness component in their current cheer regimen and training. One of our ambassadors shared with us how her injury changed her perspective and how she was absolutely determined to get back on top! We are proud to share with you this week’s Ambassador of the Week Feature with May May Trotter.

CAN YOU SHARE WITH US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY AND HOW YOU GOT TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?

I just wanted to share with all my fellow cheerleader athletes – you will have set backs – injuries, sicknesses, mental blocks, etc. The true accomplishment is to push through, stick with it, have a positive attitude and KEEP AT IT!!! After I broke my foot in April, I thought it would be easy to come right back where I left off after the doctor gave me the green light! But I quickly realized that it takes endurance and effort, and coming back to the gym DAILY if needed to fight through the physical and mental blocks that come after an injury. I have a new heart for others who have experienced injuries now. It’s hard to watch others gain new skills and get better when you are just trying to get back to your old self.


I learned that I am strong, and that I am a fighter.


And I also learned that I have a huge army of friends, teammates, and coaches that will help me every step of the way. 🙂

HOW HAS BEING AN AMBASSADOR HELPED YOU?

Being an ambassador has motivated me to be a better ME! I broke my foot back at the end of April. It was a serious injury that, fortunately, did not require surgery. I was out of cheer for 8 weeks, even missing the final competition of the season. It was so scary returning to tumbling, since I broke my foot doing a double full! I realized that I needed to get strong again and condition my body after being out for so long. This was my first big injury in the sport of cheer. I had a huge reality check that this sport is dangerous and I need to prepare my body and mind for the work I do! It has been a slow recovery and introduction back to tumbling. Staying fit and in shape helps prepare me to get back to where I was before I was hurt! I want to be a better leader and positive influence on my own teammates and in the sport of cheerleading. CHEERFIT gives me challenges that I love and I talk about with my friends and in my gym. I love that it makes staying fit more FUN by watching other ambassadors complete challenges. While other companies may focus on the FACE of cheer, CHEERFIT really focuses on the whole body. I want to be in the BEST shape I can be for this important season . . .it is the first time I can be on a Worlds-level team, since I just turned 12 this year! And especially coming back after a tough injury, I am super motivated to WORK! So thank you, CHEERFIT for reminding me to challenge myself!

WHAT NEW OPPORTUNITIES HAS BEING A CHEERFIT AMBASSADOR OPENED UP FOR YOU? 

I have met so many other cheerleaders around the country through social media! They reach out to support me and I try to do the same! Being from a small town in Alabama, I don’t often get to know cheerleaders around the country. We have all connected through Facebook and Instagram and I love following their stories. We all need to stick together and show the world that Cheerleading is a SPORT and we are ATHLETES!

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL OTHERS WHO WANT TO BECOME AN AMBASSADOR?

I want to tell all my friends and followers to join the CHEERFIT team – so they can see the importance of putting fitness FIRST in our sport. This company really provides us all the tools, from work out programs to daily challenges to fantastic contests! They really don’t just choose ambassadors. They focus on helping cheerleaders stay FIT and spreading the word by selecting ambassadors who want to do the same! Being a CHEERFIT Ambassador will help get you prepared for this upcoming season!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING A CHEERFIT AMBASSADOR?

I love to represent any company that supports cheer and supports staying fit and active! I have loved meeting other ambassadors around the country and sharing stories about our programs and our journey in cheer. With competition season around the corner, we ALL need to get back in to shape and start conditioning so we can make it through those 2 1/2 minute routines on the stage! I want to be the best for my team – and being a CHEERFIT ambassador has really put exercise at the front of my priorities! It was all perfect timing!
