CHEERFIT AMBASSADOR FEATURE: SHILOH DENTON
The CHEERFIT ambassador community is filled with leaders and motivators who all share a passion for fitness, love for cheering and drive to help inspire others.
Our ambassadors share with us their personal stories and obstacles they overcome along the way. We have an amazing community of athletes who fuel their passion and determination with the CHEERFIT lifestyle.
CAN YOU SHARE WITH US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY AND HOW YOU GOT TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?
I am Shiloh Denton. I am eleven years old. I cheer for the basketball team at Valley View Elementary. I cheer for the Bradley Youth football team. I also cheered for Cheer Madness Elite Diamonds. We took second and third place this past season. We also made it in Club Zero. At the age of two, I started experiencing chronic pain in my legs, arms, and head. I have seen eight different doctors, undergone countless tests. Nobody has been able to give me a real diagnosis to date other than arthralgia.
I refuse to let the pain determine who I am.
The pain is so severe at times that it keeps me up at night. I have gone through many different types of therapy in which none of them helped. I refuse to let the pain determine who I am. I push through the pain in order to do what I love which is cheer. My goal is to work with my coach David Pendergrass to develop my tumbling skills for the senior team.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS?:
I finally broke through my mental block during back hand springs!!! I used to need to see my coach or at least hear his voice. I was scared to try it by myself at home. But my Mother believed in me and she pushed me. She made me do 10-15 at home by myself every night until I broke the mental block. Now, I can do them with confidence. I just got my round off back hand spring and now I’m connecting toe touches to the back hand spring.
Other accomplishments include being named fastest girl in my school last year. I intend on trying out for cheer and track when I enter middle school. I was inducted into their junior beta club and was the only 4th-grade girl chosen. I took third place at the state Beta Convention in Nashville Tennessee and I have been chosen for the leadership award at school for three years in a row. I recently volunteered at the Special Olympics and I helped cheer on the athletes : )
HOW HAS BEING AN AMBASSADOR HELPED YOU REACH YOUR GOALS?
I love being a CHEERFIT Ambassador Elite. I love meeting cheerleaders from all over. Their stories of triumph give me the determination to keep trying to be my best. Hearing that others also deal with mental blocks encourages me to never give up. The CHEERFIT community is a wonderful community to be a part of.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING A CHEERFIT AMBASSADOR?
My favorite part of being an ambassador is the sense of belonging. Belonging to a family of cheerleaders that all have the same goals – to better themselves and to encourage others.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL OTHER PEOPLE WHO WANT TO BECOME A CHEERFIT AMBASSADOR?
Becoming an ambassador will strengthen your interaction with others. The sense of pride of belonging to a community with one mind, and the same goals is refreshing. If, your having a particularly bad day, you can read the success stories of your cheer family and it will give you the strength to carry on.

FAVORITE QUOTE:
I can do it. When I was having my mental block with the back hand springs, my Mom would make me say “I can do it” before every one.
ANY FUN FACTS, SOMETHING INTERESTING, OR ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE?
My mom has always said she’s my biggest cheerleader. She is teaching me confidence and refuses to let me go to bed defeated. If I’m struggling, it doesn’t matter if it’s 2:00 in the morning, she will not let me go to bed until I am able to do the skill I’ve been practicing. She says we never go to bed defeated, we always go to bed victorious.
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing story! You are so inspiring and we are so proud that you have joined the CHEERFIT family! We look forward to following your amazing journey and hope you continue to stay healthy, fit, strong, and powerful in all you do!
