Hi everyone! Hope you are in full swing of school, training and homework. It is definitely Fall here in Tennessee. Leaves are changing and falling and we had our first frost and freeze of the year this past weekend too.
I have a question for you. Are you wearing your blue this month? Strange question I’m sure, but very important. Did you know, the month of October is National Anti Bullying awareness month? Did you know someone you know maybe being bullied? Did you know someone you know may be a bully? Want to know a really scary fact? Over 30,000 kids each day, stay home from school, because they are being bullied. Do you know that over 16% of kids age 10 to 14 think of killing themselves every year because of being bullied?
No one is better than anyone. No one! We are all different and being different is what makes us individuals. If we were all the same, life would be boring and nothing would ever get accomplished. We need musicians, artists, athletes, math whizes, writers, leaders. If no one was gifted in music, we’d never get to go to a concert or have anything to listen to on our Iphones. But wait, if we had no “nerds”, we wouldn’t have our cell phones, let alone our Ipads and mac books. If we didn’t have scientists, you wouldn’t be reading this blog post, you wouldn’t be one this computer, you’d be sitting in the dark actually. Thankfully Thomas Edison wasn’t afraid of failure and kept experimenting until he created the light bulb and of course Ben Franklin with Electricity.
The point is, we are all needed. We are all special and we all have a calling in this world. You don’t have to like everyone, but you need to respect everyone. Kindness goes along way, especially in showing your true character, who you are when no one is watching. Some people make it hard to be loved and be friends with, doesn’t mean you have the right to hurt them. Sometimes the hardest to like and love, need the most kindness.
If you are a bully. What are you gaining by making someone else feel bad about themselves. Does it really make you feel any better about yourself? Does it end your loneliness or make you have any more friends?
If you are being bullied. No one can make you feel inferior or like a nothing without your permission. Someone else perception of you doesn’t mean it’s real, unless you take how they view you and make it your identity. People are always going to have an opinion of who you are and about what you do. You only need to let in the opinions that really matter. The people who really have your back and care about you.
Remember, the best way to get friends, is to be a friend. As my Mama says, the Golden rule, treat others they way you want to be treated. If you don’t want it done to you, don’t do it to someone else. We have the power to stop bullying. Empower one another, encourage one another and be the change you want to see in life.
If you are being bullied, tell someone now! A teacher, a friend, your parents.
All life is important and valuable!
Until next time
Love, hugs and backhand springs
