Hey fellow cheerFIT family, it’s Natalie, one of your cheerFIT Ambassadors!
How many of you are beyond excited for the official start of summer this month? I know I am! With summer approaching quickly, it is more important than ever to keep up with your workout routines and healthy lifestyles.
Not only does summer bring more parties, cook outs, lazy days in the sun, and vacations, but it is also the last few months before try outs begin for most teams!  For me personally, it does get harder to stay on track during the summer months but the past few years I have really gotten a good handle on how to balance the fun of summer and feeling great!
The best part of summer is getting to spend so much time outside and enjoying time with friends and family.  This also makes it a lot harder to designate time to get your work out in.  When we have summer parties or go to the beach we like to make sure we bring games to play!  KanJam, Cornhole, Ladder Ball Toss, and even my favorite, hand stand contests!   These are fun and easy ideas to stay active throughout the day.  Also, we love to take walks or runs on the beach and then go for a swim after!
If you are spending time at a pool, before you begin your day of relaxation in the sun, do a few laps.  You can also tread water on and off for a few minutes to get your heart rate up! There are also plenty of games to play in the pool to keep your body moving.
On non vacation or party days my biggest suggestion would be to find a work out buddy and don’t waste your day sleeping until noon!  Take a hike, go for a run, do a work out at the local park or go to your high school track. There are plenty of ways to get that work out in without having to spend a long time in a gym.  Take advantage of the weather (for those of us who don’t see it most of the year) and make your work out count!  My favorite is to hit the local high school track.
Running bleachers, lunges around the track, sprints on the turf, burpees, bear crawls, push ups, and bench jumps to name a few.< — Those are all things you can do outside and with or without a buddy! A work out like that will be sure to keep you in shape and ready for try outs in the fall!
That is honestly one of the best things that cheerFIT provides you with, work outs that can be done ANY WHERE!! Check out cheerFIT’s newest summer fitness slimdown here.

Aside from working out my #1 summer snacking rule, especially at a party or cook out, snack as much as you want on fruits and vegetables.  These will keep you full in between meals and feeling great!  Keep in mind what you are working towards and do not lose sight of that during the fun of summer! You want your hard work to continue to pay off!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy summer!
